Whichever of the three separate English courses you choose, we aim to teach you to think for yourself and to equip you with an intellectual toolkit with which to analyse any text that crosses your path.
You will find that individual creative contributions are valued and that we expect all our students to participate. You will be working within a mature learning community that is both supportive and challenging.

“English Language is a really involving subject – we frequently have class debates on the nature of language change and ‘good’ and ‘bad’ English use. Not only are the topics fascinating, but the way they link together means learning English language is also an education in English history, culture and the effects of colonialism. Anyone who likes to study things in detail and also see the big picture would really enjoy studying English Language.”
